C H Wood in RAF uniform, possibly wearing the filter goggles he developed to train the famous 'Dambuster' pilots in night flying. Coloured filters in the goggles cut out particular light in stages, simulating the darkness of night. Night flying training could take place during the day with instructors having full vision. C. H. Wood was awarded an M.B.E. for his work with the RAF during WWII.
