C H Wood in RAF uniform, possibly wearing the goggles he developed to train the famous 'Dambuster' pilots in night flying. Filters in the goggles simulated the darkness of night, allowing training to take place during the day with instructors having full vision. CH Wood was awarded an MBE for his work in this area.
