The Shah Jehan Mosque in Woking was the first purpose built mosque in northern Europe. It was constructed in 1889 to serve Muslim students at a college nearby. . The building was designed by the Victorian architect WL Chambers and mostly financed by the Begum Shah Jehan, ruler of Bhopal State, India. Featured on page 49 of the book Asians in Britain.
