Portrait of William Maw, secretary of Bradford Infirmary. He died in 1919.
Note in Sowden's notebook:
William Maw was the indefatigable secretary of the Bradford Infirmary and was very well known in "Charge" [sic] a keen collector of subscriptions for the Institution. On his retirement in 1902 after serving in that capacity for twenty five years the Board of Management presented Mr Maw with a purse containing a cheque for £70, together with a handsome clock suitable inscribed. During his secretaryship the Infirmary had grown nearly twice the size it was when he first became connected with it. He died in 1919.
