Portrait of Fred Bonsor, rugby player with Bradford FC, aged 27.

Sowden's note in notebooks -
'Born in Bradford, his father being a drysalter. He was educated at Dr Dyson's School. He joined the Bradford Football Club in 1881 and established a reputation as the best half back Yorkshire had produced, a claim which holds good to this day. He gained his English cap in 1886 - & played six times for England in all. He would have played more but for an injured knee. He captained Yorkshire & was the Bradford Captain when they won the Yorkshire Cup in 1884. In the early or mid 90's Bonsor emigrated to Canada.'
