"Mr Fawcett was the son of Mr Richard Fawcett, wool merchant and was born in 1855. He was educated at St Peter's School, York and at the Bradford Grammar School.
About 1872 he entered his father’s business and achieved considerable success. Mr Fawcett is a member of the Bradford Chamber of Commerce and he has been Vice President for some time. His chairmanship Mr Fawcett was the son of Mr Richard Fawcett, wool merchant and was born in 1855. He was educated at St Peter's School, York and at the Bradford Grammar School.
About 1872 he entered his father’s business and achieved considerable success. Mr Fawcett is a member of the Bradford Chamber of Commerce and he has been Vice President for some time. His chairmanship of the Wool section extended for a long period.
He has devoted much time to the Anthrax Investigation Board for Bradford. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Bradford Conditioning House and a representative of the Chamber of Commerce on the Board of Governors of the Bradford Grammar School.
He is a director of the Bradford Exchange. He was a member of the House Committee of the Bradford Royal infirmary for 15 years, as well as of the Woodlands Convalescent Home and Hon Sec to the Tradesman's Benevolent Institution.
He is on the Committee of the Bradford Deaf and Dumb Institution, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and the Gray Convalescent Home. He is Chairman of the Bradford Charity Organisation Society and has much sympathy with the Bradford Cinderella Club, the Guild of Help and the Bradford discharged prisoners aid society.
Mr Fawcett was made a JP in 1899 and he is Governor of the Bradford Girls’ Grammar School. Mr Fawcett was elected Lord Mayor in 1907 and in the same month was returned unopposed as a representative of the Exchange Ward. In 1909 he was paid a similar compliment. Mr Fawcett is a member of the Church Extension in Bradford. In Freemasonry Mr Fawcett holds high rank. He is a keen Conservative. Mr Fawcett married Miss Alice Kelly, daughter of the Reverend W Kelly, Vicar of Shipley and has four sons and one daughter. He died in 1918."
