"Canon Edwards was born in London in 1836 and was educated at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, taking his B.A. degree in 1860 and M.A. three years later. Canon Edwards was the Vicar of Holy Trinity Church, Leeds Road for 25 years. He was the first vicar and was inducted in 1864. Previously he had been Curate at Low Moor under Canon Clayton. He was a member of the second Bradford School Board. He considerably enlarged the Day School in connection with Holy Trinity Church and was responsible for erecting the fine north aisle. He was also President for 12 years of the Bradford Church of England Temperance Society and many other societies for the furtherance of many worthy objects.
In 1890 Cannon Edwards was inducted to the living(?) of Bingley, by the Bishop of Richmond. After settling in Bingley he was appointed (?) Dean, and the Governor of Bingley Grammar School. Canon Edwards married Miss Skelton of Leeds in 1865. He left a widow and a family of eight children."
