"Was born in 1850 in Bradford, the only son of John Naylor of Bradford, and was educated at Thomas Potter’s School, Lidget Green. Entered the Third Equitable Building Society in 1867 and rose from office boy to senior Secretary and Director. The first annual meeting of the Building Societies Association held out of London was held in Bradford in 1898. As a result of that meeting the Association was re-organised and Mr Naylor was placed in the Executive Committee.

In 1913 Mr Naylor was made Chairman of the Executive Committee and has held the position ever since. Mr Naylor has published, in 1908 a history of the Bradford Building Societies since 1823 and in 1915 a history of the Building Societies Association from its formation in 1869 and in addition several papers on Building Societies matters. Mr Naylor has been a member of the Bradford scientific society for many years and has been its president on several occasions. He is also on the committee of the Bradford Naturalists Society. He was the originator of the Botanical Garden in Lister Park and chairman from the commencement of the Advisory Committee appointed by the Corporation. Mr Naylor was also the originator of the West Bradford Golf Club and has been Treasurer for many years.

Mr Naylor is a Churchman. He married in 1898 Annie E Crebbin(?), youngest daughter of the late David Crebbin."
