Note in Sowden's notebook:
'Miss Lambert was the eldest daughter of Mr James Lambert, Solicitor, Bradford and was born in Bradford in 1830. She was always interested in educational and philanthropic matters, particularly in regard to her own ?. As long ago as 1848 she established a free school for children at Baildon, and for many years undertook the management of it. She was elected a Governor of the Girls' Grammar School from its commencement, an office she held until her death. She was the first Hon'ry Secretary of the Orphan Girls' Home, and was with the late Mrs Lythall one of the founders of the Institution. Miss Lambert was also the Hon'ry Secretary and inspiring genius of the Society for Care and Protection of Girls. She was chief mover in forming a branch of the Girls' Friendly Society in Bradford. She was also for nearly 4 years superintendent of the Parish Church Sunday School. Having traveled widely herself she took great interest in foreign missionary work & was an ardent supporter of the Church Missionery Society & also of the cause of Temperance. In 1910 she moved to Harrogate where she died in 1911.'
