Portrait of Thomas Ryder Age 60.

On the back of th eportrait Ryder is written as Rider and it says: Born at Westport, Ireland 1830, came to Bradford 1848 and commenced as a travelling glazier which he has followed ever since, he lived in Soutgate [sic] during the whole period.

Additional research - known as 't'owd glassner'. Born around 1830 in Ireland. Painted on 21st October 1890. Sowden paid him 2 shillings per hour to sit for him. Ryder's daughter originally insisted that Thomas should wear his Sunday best which Sowden did not want.
