'Novelist and traveller; born at Bibury, Gloucestershire, May 11 1866; eldest son of the Rev C W N Hyne, Vicar of Bierley; married Elsie, daughter of the late Mr John Haggas of Ingrow, near Keighley, 1897; one son and one daughter. Educated at the Bradford Grammar School and Clare College, Cambridge, (MA). Wrote for the magazines; travelled in the Balearic Islands, Europe, Canary Islands, Congo Free State, Gold Coast, Artic (sic) Sea, Russian Lapland, North America, Mexican Gulf Keys, Algeria, Tunisia, Southern Morocco, Western Mexico, etc; also much at sea; makes a point of covering at least 10,000 miles of new ground every year.
