'Mr Moser was born in 1839 in Kappeln, Prussia, at that time part of Denmark. After apprenticeship with his father he went to Hamburg as clerk in 1858. After a short residence in Paris he came to Bradford and became continental traveller for a creal firm. In 1872 he commenced business on his own account with Mr Edelstein as partner, the firm being Messr Edelstein, Moses & Co and closed in 1902.
His retirement was marked with handsome gifts to his employees and to the Jew’s school. Mr Moser has always taken a great interest in Jewish affairs. His first active part in local was the formation of the Charity Organisation Society and soon after he was elected on the board of management of the Bradford Royal Infirmary. He has also taken great interest in the Children’s Hospital, the Society for the prevention of cruelty to Children.
He was president of the Bradford Congregation of British & Foreign Jews and has devoted £10,000 to establish a benevolent fund for the aged and infirm for work people of Bradford, and contributed £5000 to the Bradford Royal Infirmary Scheme.
In 1904 he founded a Jewish Hospital in Leeds.

The idea of the municipalisation of the Technical College originates with Mr Moses. He is a member of the Social Wing of the Salvation Army and a member of the Nutter Orphanage.
In 1896 he was returned to the city council as an independent, representing Manningham ward and served for three years, after which, for an interval, of two years he was not a member of the council.
In 1901 however he has been a member of the council continuously representing Heaton Ward for three years, serving as an Alderman from 1904 to 1907 and sitting since for the Little Horton Ward.
He was made Alderman in 1904 and elected Lord Mayor in 1910. To Mr & Mrs Moses is due the credit of being the founder of the City Guild of Help in Bradford. Mr & Mrs Moses also founded what was known as ‘The Nest’ a day nursery, that was carried on with great success for many years. He was made a Justice of the Peace in 1895. Mr Moses married in 1875 ?, daughter of Mr S ? of Manchester but has no issue.'
