Sowden's note in notebooks -
'Principal of St. Aidan's College, Birkenhead, succeeded the Rev. Theodore Woods as Vicar of Bradford. Dr. Warner was born in 1872 and educated at Merchant Taylors' School London and Pembroke College, Oxford. His degrees are M.A. Durham (1906) B.D. Oxon (1907) D.D. Oxon (1911). Following curacies at Leighton (1895.99) & St Mary's Hastings (1899.91). He was appointed Vice-Principal at St. Aidan's College 1901. For a short period he was made Vicar of Birkenhead and Surrogate but in 1907 he returned to the College in the capacity of Principal. He did valuable work as a member of the Local Board of Guardians and of the Distress Committees and was Chairman of both bodies. He was a member of the Archbishop's Committee on Church and State. He was examining chaplain of the Bishop of Chelmsford & the Bishop of Manchester and teacher in Hellenic Greek in Liverpool University. He has written books on missions, New Testament theology and the English Reformation and is a member of the Authors' Club. His recreations include tennis & cycling. He married in 1899, Gertrude, daughter of the late Mr Norwood Earle of Dover and has two sons. Dr. Warman was consecrated Bishop of Truro at St. Paul's Cathedral October 1919.'
