Biographical note in Sowden's notebook:

David Wade J.P. Alderman was the son of Mr John Wade, a farmer of Great Horton & was educated at Thomas Potter's School at Lidget Green. From the age of 13 to 18 he was a clerk in the office of George Armitage Ltd dyers. Transferring his services to Messr S. P. Myers & Co Stuff Manufacturers, he steadily rose to the position of works manager, and in ten years was admitted to a partnership in the firm, when under 30 years of age. A decade later he commenced business on this own account taking over the branch concern of S.P.Myers & Co at Allerton which he made distinctly successful. His two sons Mr John & Mr Wm. were some years ago admitted into partnership in the business. His specialty was Italian cloth. Alderman wade entered the Town Council in 1895 as a representative of the Allerton Ward, and in 1898 and 1901 was re-elected without opposition. In the last year named he was made an Alderman. He was elected Mayor in 1902 which he accepted for two successive years. He was identified with the Royal Infirmary, the Technical College & the Eye & Ear Hospital. Mr wade was a director of the Bradford District Banking Co & the Bradford District Newspaper Co. In honour of his 12 years work for the Life Boat Institution he received an address expressing the institutions thanks. Alderman Wade married a daughter of Mr Joseph Kingdon of Devonshire. He had 2 sons and 1 daughter. The second term of his Mayoralty was rendered notable by the visit of the Prince & princess of Wales to open the Bradford Exhibition in Lister Park. For years Alderman Wade was the Chairman of the Fiance Committee and it was [???] his advice that the consolidation of the accounts department was effected. he was a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows (Manchester Unity). he was a good Liberal and was a life-long Congregationalist. He died in 1915.
