"Was the son of Mr Charles Waller, brewer and spirit merchant and was born in 1843. He was educated at Mr Stacey’s Academy, Sutton Grove, near Tadcaster. He joined his father in the business and was made a partner in 1870.

The business was formed into a limited company in 1887 latterly he took a great interest in art and had a good collection of modern art including a picture by Corot, which when he died in 1910 he bequeathed to the Bradford Art Gallery Committee.

He had a fine collection of old Chelsea porcelain which included notable specimens. He travelled a great deal in America, Japan and India. He died in London where he had resided for some time."
