Christopher Pratt the furniture company teamed up with engineering firm Phoenix Dynamo to make seaplanes during the First World War.

Short Bomber serial no. N9834, one of batch of ten ordered from Phoenix Dynamo of which only six were delivered in 1916. The same photo with a different attribution (LGE Brown) and cropped appears in Ransom S and Fairclough R, (1987) English Electric Aircraft and their Predecessors, London, Putnam,. on P.306
