This is a black and white glossy landscape image of two men making shuttles. On the back of the print is a press photograph sticker which captions the image with: 'Shuttlemakers. West Yorkshire' and indicates that it was for the 'Thru the Mill' exhibition. There are several repeats of this print in the collection, one of which (H.2024.4.383) attributes this picture to Crossleys Shuttles, which manufactured shuttles at Woodbottom Mill at Walsden, Todmorden for 118 years until 2006. The two men, both of whom are wearing aprons, are working at machines which are covered in some kind of dust (either sawdust or metal dust). This print was taken by photographer Ian Beesley.
