This is a Mungo and Shoddy merchant working at his desk, as attributed by a similar image in the collections (H.2024.4.757). The man is wearing a long white coat and has papers and a landline phone on the desk in front of him. The window in front of him has written signage on it and seems to lead to the building's exterior. A calendar in the background suggests that this was taken in November 1986.
