This is a colour photographic print made up of two images. The first is a view of a snowy forest, marked by trees and leaves. The second is a view of props in a mineshaft barely illuminated by light. It was taken by photographer Ian Beesley. This picture can be found in Ian Beesley's 'The Drift' on page 20, indicating that it was taken at Hay Royds Colliery. It is part of a section drawing comparisons between the temperature on the surface (-6) and underground in the mines (+20)
