This is a black and white glossy photographic print of a miner above ground at Hay Royds Colliery. He regards the camera with a silly expression while wearing his miners headlamp. There is a pile of rubble and a winding gear in the background. The back of the print labels the man as a faceworker called John Taylor. This print was taken by photographer Ian Beesley and is featured in two of his books - 'Life: A Retrospective' on p140 and 'The Drift' on p104
