This is a glossy black and white portrait photographic print of a miner, with helmet and flask, above ground at Hay Royds Coliery. A caption on the back of the print reads: 'Gordon Goodison The Youngest miner at the pit. 'When folks ask me what I do, I tell 'em I'm a miner. They don't believe me - 'Nah, youre too young. Anyhow there's no miners left'. So it will be good to have a photograph o show 'em."' This picture was taken by photographer Ian Beesley and can be found (along with the caption) on p135 in his book 'Life: A Retrospective'.
