This is a black and white landscape photographic print of a miner standing at the pit top of Hay Royds Colliery. He regards the camera with a neutral expression while wearing a scruffy shirt and a miners headlamp. Large, possibly sealed bags of tarmac and limestone dust are piled up behind him. This print was taken by photographer Ian Beesley and features in his book 'The Drift' on p108. The miner is credited as being called Connor Goodison. This print is also embossed.
Beesley's caption below the print reads: 'We need a young lag we can train up like we used to, start him off at the pit top, see if he's reliable, see if he can get up in the morning and then bring him on'.
