This is a glossy black and white square photographic print of two men in front of new miners lamps on the shelves behind them. One of the men is standing, with one hand on his leg the other holding a wheeled ladder. The other one is seated. A fire exit site can be seen in the background, cut off slightly by the edge of the frame. This print was taken by photographer Ian Beesley and features in his book 'Life: A Retrospective' on page 147. This attributes the date of the print to 2008 and the location to the Eccles in Salford. The pair are from the Protector Lamp company, which Beesley noted was one of the last manufacturers of safety lamps.
