This is a glossy black and white photographic print of a miner underground. He is bent double beneath the mineshaft ceiling, wearing a miners headlamp, high visibility clothing and knee pads. His arms and face are blackened with coal dust. Not much else other than a small illuminated part of the ceiling can be seen. This print was taken by photographer Ian Beesley and features in his book 'The Drift' on p33, indicating that this was taken at Hay Royds Colliery. The man is named as Dave Cook.
