This is a glossy black and white photographic print of a Hay Royds Colliery worker standing at the pit surface. The mans face is caked in coal dust and he is wearing high visibility clothing. Coal mining machinery can be seen in the background, alongside a skip, a pile of scrap metal and a pile of logs. This print was taken by photographer Ian Beesley and can be seen in his book 'The Drift' on pp44-45.
