This is a matte landscape photograph of the head and shoulders of a miner writing in a log book. There are six versions of this print, some with slight lighting differences suggesting variations in the printing process. Beneath one print, photographer Ian Beesley has written: "End of Shift - Safety report. Hayroyds Colliery" and on another "Hay Royds Colliery. Yorkshire. November 2007." This particular print is embossed as Limited Edition and has the caption: "I hope these photographs are in black and white, they look proper, more real than those in colour." This image is included in Beesley's book 'The Drift' on page 56.
