This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. A label on the back of the folder in which they are stored reads 'De Puy, Thackray Beeston Leeds 5th August 2011', possibly referring to the DePuy Sythes R&D centre in Beeston.

The image depicts a man working at a machine from afar, viewed through a window from another room. He is wearing ear defenders and safety goggles, following the safety guidance printed on the wall beside him. The window panes and a pipe obscure the view of much more of the room and frame the man as the focus. It is possible that this is the same room and man depicted in H.2025.11.2.15.

This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements.
