This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. A label on the back of the folder in which they are stored reads 'De Puy, Thackray, Beeston, Leeds, 5th/12th August 2011', possibly referring to the DePuy Sythes R&D centre in Beeston.
This image depicts four workers in uniform standing in a car park. They are smiling and laughing, and two of them are holding paper. One additional worker is in the back-left of the frame and is pushing a cart away from the group towards the buildings behind. The building has a sign labelling it "Manufacturing 2". The building to the right of the image contains large bins with signs prescribing the type of rubbish for each. Visible in the car park are a BMW car and a van with the lettering "LSS" on the side.
This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company who moved production to China.
