This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. A label on the back of the folder in which they are stored reads 'De Puy, Thackray, Beeston, Leeds, 5th/12th August 2011', possibly referring to the DePuy Sythes R&D centre in Beeston.

This image depicts an elevated view through glass of the machine room a DePuy in Beeston. Two men wearing DePuy uniforms and ID cards are leaning against the machinery with folded arms and crossed legs. Most of the image is filled with the machinery and equipment.

This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company who moved production to China.
