This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. A label on the back of the folder in which they are stored reads 'De Puy, Thackray, Beeston, Leeds, 5th/12th August 2011', possibly referring to the DePuy Sythes R&D centre in Beeston.
This image depicts workers wearing protective equipment including overcoats and hairnets, working behind glass. In the forefront, two of the workers are looking at computer screens. In the background, more workers are stood by machinery and equipment stored on shelves. In front of the glass is a wall-mounted plastic container of possibly some fabric PPE with a sign reading "Please Replace After Use".
This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company who moved production to China.
