This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. A label on the back of the folder in which they are stored reads 'De Puy, Thackray, Beeston, Leeds, 5th/12th August 2011', possibly referring to the DePuy Sythes R&D centre in Beeston.

A building in the lower portion of the frame is labelled "Manufacturing 1". A cloudy sky can be seen above, and is the focus of this image.

This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company who moved production to China.
