This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. A label on the back of the folder reads ' DePuy, Thackray. Beeston. Leeds. 5th/12th August 2011, possibly referring to the DePuy Sythes R&D centre in Beeston.

This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man working at a machine while wearing a DePuy uniform, glasses and earbuds. The exact nature of his work is not discernable since the frame obscures most of the machine he is working at, plus his lower body and hands. A view of his surroundings is visible instead, including more machines in a row behind him, lights above him and a clock on the wall in the distance.
