This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. A label on the back of the folder reads ' DePuy, Thackray. Beeston. Leeds. 5th/12th August 2011, possibly referring to the DePuy Sythes R&D centre in Beeston.
This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company who moved production to China.
This image depicts a man wearing glasses, earbuds and a black DePuy uniform while looking into a machine through a viewing window. While the exact nature of the machine is not discernable, one can see water on the inside of the window. A warning notice is stuck to the machine, but it is blurry due to the main focus of the camera being the man and window.
