This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. A label on the back of the folder reads ' DePuy, Thackray. Beeston. Leeds. 5th/12th August 2011, possibly referring to the DePuy Sythes R&D centre in Beeston.

This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man wearing a black DePuy uniform, glasses and earbuds while aiming a water hose into the hull of a machine. The hull floor is lined with a striped material, possibly metal pipes for heating? My immediate impression is that he is using the water to cool or fill the machine.
