This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley.

A label on the back of the folder reads 'DePuy, Thackray. Beeston. Leeds. 12th August 2011, possibly referring to the DePuy Sythes R&D centre in Beeston.

This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company who moved production to China.

The image shows two men wearing DePuy uniforms. One is wearing ear defenders and both are wearing protective glasses and are sat at machines. The machines are large wheels - possibly they have a surface coating the circumferences making them sanders or polishers. There is more machinery behind the workers.
