This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley.

A label on the back of the folder reads 'DePuy, Thackray. Beeston. Leeds. 12th August 2011, possibly referring to the DePuy Sythes R&D centre in Beeston.

This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company who moved production to China.

The image shows a man wearing a DePuy uniform, protective glasses, gloves and earbuds. They are sat at a machine comprised of a large wheel - possibly they have a surface coating the circumference making it a polisher. The employee is reaching for an object just out of frame, likely a shiny piece of metal. In the background of this image are two more tools like the one the man is using.
