This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. A label on the back of the folder reads 'DePuy, Thackray. Beeston. Leeds. 12th August 2011, possibly referring to the DePuy Sythes R&D centre in Beeston.
This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company who moved production to China.
This image depicts a desk with many items on it. There is a tall circular metal tube with the text 'quench water' stuck on it, a pair of gloves, 5 finished components and a measuring tool. One can also see sheets of paper with diagrams on them with the date they were printed being recorded. The one by the gloves reads 8/2/2011 at 3:16:32AM.
