This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. A label on the back of the folder reads 'DePuy, Thackray. Beeston. Leeds. 12th August 2011, possibly referring to the DePuy Sythes R&D centre in Beeston.

This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man wearing eye protection and gloves as he holds up a metal component in both hands toward a ceiling. His arms, the piece and his head are cast in a glow, indicating that there is a ceiling light he is using. The camera captures the image from behind, capturing the back of his chair.
