This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. A label on the back of the folder reads 'DePuy, Thackray. Beeston. Leeds. 12th August 2011, possibly referring to the DePuy Sythes R&D centre in Beeston.

This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man operating a machine using a bunch of buttons and dials on the wall in front of him. He is looking at the camera while wearing glasses and a DePuy uniform, possibly explaining how it works to Beesley. He is holding a handle of the machine as well. The machine rests just behind him. Text on the machine describes it as a 'Super Productive Turning Cell' and other text reads 'Seiki' and 'LTHE-0020' .
