This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.
This image depicts a man adjusting a large circular piece of paper either onto a machine or off of it. The paper is large, circular (with the exception of a rectangle section facing downwards) and has lots of drawings on it. An interface hooked up to the machine labels it a 'Quadra-Chek 100' while also displaying an x coordinate of 0.4535 and a y coordinate of 0.0731. A notice in the top corner of the machine reads 'Please file all drawings away after use. Do not leave them on the work racks. Thank you.'
