This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.
This image depicts an outside location, possibly the entrance to a car park. The image is taken from a narrow street that leads into a larger space, though the extent of which is hidden by the building. There are around 5 cars parked up with one in motion driving toward where the camera is. A sign mandates a 10mph speed limit. There is a strong contrast between the light and dark sections of the image.
