This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man in a DePuy uniform wearing a pair of glasses propped up on his forehead. He is looking down at an object in his hands, though his hands obscure what the object is. A magnifying lamp is level with his head, giving him extra light to work with. There is a machine of some kind in the background.
