This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man wearing a DePuy uniform and a pair of glasses propped up on top of his head. He is using a control panel for some kind of machine, with many buttons and a corresponding interface toward the top left of the frame. A magnifying lamp caught in the foreground obscures the mans hands, so it is difficult to determine what exactly he is doing. Another worktop can be seen in the background, with tools littered about on it and a bunch of labelled storage shelves connected to it.
