This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts two men in DePuy uniforms. One of them is wearing eye protection and is caught mid conversation with a man obscured by a machine. A sign suspended from the ceiling reads 'Knee Grinding' with another one in the background reading 'Knee Cutting'. This seems to be the place where parts for knee replacements were processed. The surrounding room can also be slightly seen, picturing many other machines and a ear protection warning on the far left.
