This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man using a Quadra-chek machine, which was used to take accurate measurements of objects. A large circular piece of paper has been fitted to the machine frame with four latches, and has either been drawn on or is being drawn on by the machine. A notice on the right reads 'Have you SWITCHED OFF. Think! SAVE MONEY AND ENERGY. CLIMATE CARE' The hand of another person can be seen on the right, caught in motion while gesturing to the person in the frame.
