This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man wearing glasses and a DePuy uniform working at his desk. He is holding a component of some kind in one hand while working on it with some kind of tool in the other. A magnifying lamp provides light to assist his work. Completed and uncompleted components, metal string and tools can be seen around the desk. 'De-rubbering and inspection', 'Finished components' and '[ba]ckorder priority batch' can be seen as well.
