This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley.

This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man wearing a pair of glasses and a DePuy uniform. He is holding a tool, possibly a pair of pliers, in one hand while holding some kind of box or component in the other. A magnifying lamp is on, but it isn't pointed at him or his work, instead at the desk that is out of frame below. A large machine and corresponding control panel can be seen behind him.
