This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image shows a man wearing glasses, ear defenders and a black DePuy uniform working at a desk. He is holding a component in one hand and working at it with a sharp tool of some kind with the other. He is also looking through a magnifying glass which provides light and magnification to aid his work. His desk has sheets of paper (possibly schematics or a plan to follow), a black circular tube and a brush.
