This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image shows a man wearing a black DePuy uniform, ear defenders and glasses working at a desk. He is holding a component of some kind in one hand and working away at it with a sharp tool in the other. A magnifying lamp assists him by providing light and magnification. His table has a finished component, a brush, another sharp tool, a pair of gloves and a pointed twisting tool.
