This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man wearing a striped shirt and goggles as he holds up a small domed component directly to the camera. He is holding it with one hand and tracing the finger of his other hand along it. A machine with warning labels (such as one mandating eye protection) can be seen. Perhaps he is showing the product produced by the machine?
