This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image shows a man wearing a black DePuy uniform, eye protection and a ID card hung at his waist. One of his hands is inside a glass chamber while the other is gesturing while he addressing something or someone out of frame. The glass has safety warnings stuck to it, one of them mandating eye protection. An object resembling a control panel for the machine can be seen in the bottom right corner. Perhaps the person he is speaking to is stood behind here out of frame?
